  • The Art of Living and Dying

  • The Art of Living and Dying
    Friday, October 25, 2024, 10:45 AM

Repeats every Friday until October 25, 2024
    Location:
St. Paul the Apostle Parish Hall, Kingston

In light of the legalization of medically assisted suicide and euthanasia (MAID) throughout the world, disciples of Jesus need to cultivate the virtues and attitudes that will allow them to embrace fully the life and death God has given. In the past, the Catholic tradition emphasized preparing for a good death in order to see the face of God. We need to rediscover that way of life. In this four part series, Father John Hibbard will share some spiritual and biblical reflections on living, illness, pain and dying in light of Jesus’s own experience of suffering and death. Saint Paul the Apostle Church, 1111 Taylor-Kidd Blvd, Kingston, ON. In the Parish Hall. Thursday evenings on Sept 19, 27, Oct 17 and 24 at 6:30 pm or Friday mornings, Sept 20, 28, Oct 18 and 25 at 10:45 am.

  • Blanket Exercise: Renewed Catholic Commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation

  • Saturday, October 19, 2024
    Location:
St. John Catholic Elementary School, Perth

It has been 2 years since Pope Francis came to Canada on a penitential pilgrimage in which he apologized and called for a future of justice, healing and reconciliation for and with Canada’s Indigenous Peoples.  In a “Letter to the People of God”, the Canadian Bishops are encouraging all Catholics to continue to listen to Indigenous communities on this journey of reconciliation.
On Saturday afternoon, October 19th you too can participate in this process of healing and reconciliation through a unique event in our parish: the Blanket Exercise.  This is an interactive way to learn the history and the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.

    See poster for details.

  • Pregnancy and Infant Loss Prayer Service

  • Pregnancy and Infant Loss Prayer Service
    Thursday, October 17, 2024, 7:00 PM
    Location:
    St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kingston ON

Whether this happened recently or a number of years a go, there’s no blueprint
for parents to know how to grieve or commemorate their baby’s life after the loss
of an infant in utero or early in their short life after delivery. It can be confusing
and disorienting on top of the sorrow.
The prayer service is a time to honour your baby, a time to reflect and a time to
receive comfort from our Lord Jesus Christ.
If this resonates with you or you know of someone who might benefit from this
service, then please pass it along and join us.
Women, men, couples, children, grandparents, friends and relatives are all
    welcome. Light refreshments to follow.
Contact Maria Magee [email protected] for any questions.

  • Life Chain

  • Sunday, October 6, 2024, 11:00 AM

St. Joseph’s Parish will be hosting this year’s Kingston Life Chain after the 11 am Sunday Mass. We will gather at the southwest corner of the church for a prayer. Pro-life signs will be available. We will proceed to the edge of St. Joseph’s parking lot facing Sir John A MacDonald Blvd led by our Canadian Flag, followed by St. Joseph’s CWL and K of C banners. We will provide silent prayer and witness for one hour. We will then have a potluck lunch in the parish hall where all participants are welcome. Chairs will be available for those who prefer to sit for the one-hour vigil. All are welcome to join us.
As you may know, Life Chain is a prayerful witness to the sanctity of all human life. This peaceful and silent demonstration brings awareness to the ongoing injustice of abortion and the harm it inflicts on mothers, fathers, and the community at large. It is a simple but powerful reminder to our fellow citizens of our duty to defend the weakest members of our society. For more general information you may visit: www.campaignlifecoalition.com/life-chain. Life Chain is endorsed by our Archbishop Michael Mulhall.
